THE BOOK CLUB IS CO-ORDINATED BY  Aileen Graham. 

 We normally meet on the first Monday of each month in Montgomery's Boardroom, at 2.30 p.m.  Sheets with the list of books will be available in Sept. at the General Meeting.  Book Club members  present at the June meeting will also know the titles.

 

The following is the list of books for the Sept. '10 to May  '11.

13th September.  Please note that this is not our usual first Monday - I shall be in Donegal on holiday!

"Somewhere Towards the End" by Diana Athill. Biography, published in pback 4/12 08.

 

4th October.

"Wedlock" by Wendy Moore.  Pub. in pback 2009.

 

1st November.

"Testament of Youth" by Vera Brittain.  Good availability - try Penguin.

 

6th December.

"Lady Audley's Secret" by Mary Braddon.  Very early crime story.  Good availability.  Try Penguin classics or Wordsworth Classics.

 

3rd January.

Bring a favourite poem for us all to enjoy.

 

7th February.

"Stoner" by John Williams and John McGahern, pback pub 2003 and 2006.  Try Amazon.

 

7th March.

"To Kill a Mocking Bird" by Harper Lee.  Widely available as a school text.  Try Vintage Classics

 

4th April.

"Truth in the Night" by Michael McLaverty.  My copy is Poolbeg Press, 1986, but try collections of Irish Literature, e.g. in libraries.

 

2nd May.Check date nearer the time; this is a Bank Holiday.

Biography of the Ulster scholar, Helen Waddell, by Dame Felicitas Corrigan.  Try libraries.  My copy is lent out at present!

Each month we run a Book-Swap to raise money for charity.

Bring along any books you have finished with, and for a small sum take home a good read.
